Something a little bit different from my usual cards...

On Friday, I spent a lovely day with a friend, learning how to
'Napkin Decoupage' a wooden bowl.
We came across this idea when visiting the Country Living Spring Fair in April,
and booked ourselves onto a day's course with Heather who owns
Fine Lines Quality Crafting. Her Facebook page can be found HERE

The course was held in Heather's home in Essex, where we joined
three other ladies.

Heather has an amazing selection of paper napkins to choose from, and this
is the one I picked out to use on my bowl...
...and here is my finished bowl!
The process involves painting the bowl first with Annie Sloan chalk paint.
Whilst waiting for it to dry, we practiced the napkin technique on a small board.

Then we prepared the 3 ply napkins, removing the 2 under layers

to leave the pattern sheet. After carefully tearing lots of the poppies,
I started glue-ing them in position, speed drying the glue with a hair dryer,
then varnishing. I still need to apply two more coats of varnish, but am certainly
pleased with my first attempt.
It was a lovely day doing something completely different.
