On Friday, I spent a lovely day with a friend, learning how to

We came across this idea when visiting the Country Living Spring Fair in April,
and booked ourselves onto a day's course with Heather who owns

The course was held in Heather's home in Essex, where we joined
three other ladies.

Heather has an amazing selection of paper napkins to choose from, and this
is the one I picked out to use on my bowl...

...and here is my finished bowl!
The process involves painting the bowl first with Annie Sloan chalk paint.
Whilst waiting for it to dry, we practiced the napkin technique on a small board.
Then we prepared the 3 ply napkins, removing the 2 under layers
to leave the pattern sheet. After carefully tearing lots of the poppies,
I started glue-ing them in position, speed drying the glue with a hair dryer,
then varnishing. I still need to apply two more coats of varnish, but am certainly

Gorgeous bowl Janice. I love using napkins for cards too. I have quite the collection of napkins. Who would have thought you can make so many things from a simple napkin! Great job!

That turned out beautiful, I have used napkins on cards and on my flour, sugar ect. containers but never totally decoupage an item other than card base, I love the look!!
