A Drawstring Bag

I made this little drawstring bag for my great niece for Christmas which I had
completely forgotten to share with you.
As I had bought her a Pom Pom maker, along with some balls of
wool, I thought it would be handy for her to keep it all together in a bag.

A Shopping Bag for my 18 month old Great Niece

Today, I am sharing another one of my lockdown sewing makes, this time a

little 'shopping' bag for my 18 month old great niece to play with.

I followed a tutorial on YouTube HERE making some of my

own adjustments. This was my first attempt at piping which I

attached to the top edge.

A Fabric Easter Bunny

Wishing all my followers and friends a Happy Easter.

What a strange one it will be this year, but thankfully the weather

has been warm and sunny which has been great to get things done in the garden.

Here is a fabric rabbit I made yesterday morning from a free pattern available 

on a Facebook sewing group I belong to. It was easy to make and took

no time at all.

A Tea Bag Holder

I have a friend who is a great tea drinker, so when I saw this free tea bag holder

tutorial from Claire at Beautiful Things, I thought it would make a perfect gift.

My friend can pop into her handbag, filled with her favourite tea bags to

 use when she's out and about.

I used a piece of the leftover material from the quilted box I made

last year HERE which I purchased from Geoff's Remnant Shop in Brentwood

I have a feeling I may be making some more of these!

A Zipped Boxed Cosmetic Bag/Pouch

Today, I am sharing a zipped 'boxed' make-up style bag/pouch I made yesterday,

using a tutorial I found on YouTube.

On Saturday, I went with my friend to The Stitch Festival at the

 London Business Design Centre, Islington. I was lucky enough to have

win two tickets to the show in a Facebook competition.

We both enjoyed our day there, making some purchases of fabric and

a few haberdashery bits.

I used leftover material from a quilted placemat I made recently which you

can see HERE. This material was purchased at

Geoff's Remnant Shop in Brentwood.

The true colour of the bag is shown in the above two photos,

not the one below which looks pink!

A Scissor Keeper, Needle Case and Table Tidy

Today, I am sharing a Scissor Keeper and Needle Case I have recently made
following a free tutorial from Claire at Beautiful Things Craft and Sewing Classes.

Claire has made the instructions really clear and easy to follow, and both items 

were made from fabric I purchased from Geoff's Remnant Shop in Brentwood

I then looked on YouTube and found a tutorial HERE to make
a table tidy. I use it to collect all the loose threads that I snip off
whilst I am sewing, which normally end up on the floor!
 I made it in matching fabric.

Larger versions would be nice to make as a bread basket on the dining table.

A Quilted Table Placemat

Today, I am sharing a quilted table placemat, which
is one of the projects available to make on the online sewing course with
Claire at Beautiful Things Craft and Sewing Classes

 This is the fourth project I have made since joining the

Bronze Online Sewing Course last July.
It's a good way to start learning quilting and also to practice sewing in straight lines!

The fabric is actually peach in colour but looks very pink in the photos, due to the
poor daylight we've had recently.
I have just another two projects to make to complete this level. 

I purchased all three materials
from Geoff's Remnant Shop in Brentwood.

A Quilted Box

Today, I am sharing a gift I made for a friend for Christmas.

A quilted box containing a small bottle of pink bubbly. 

The fabric I used was a fat quarter which was part of a set I bought in Aldi's.

I lined it with co-ordinating felt from Geoff's Remnant Shop in Brentwood. 

I added some pink shredded paper, wrapped it in cellophane and

added some silver twirled string.

A Lay Flat Drawstring Make Up Bag

Today, I am sharing my second sewing project, made from the online

 sewing course with Claire at Beautiful Things Craft and Sewing Classes

I joined the Bronze Online Sewing Course back in July,

with the first project, being a door stop which can be found HERE.

As a member of the club, Claire sends you written instructions, a pattern

and a full video tutorial. Having the video tutorial was so handy, as it meant I

could re-wind it at any point to watch again when needed.

Here is my completed bag...

Like my door stop, it's not 100% perfect, but I am really pleased with how

it has turned out, and will definitely be making another two, as my great niece's 

have put in their requests!

  If you're interested in learning to sew, I really recommend you joining Claire's 

online club, she is a great teacher and has some fabulous projects planned.

All the materials were purchased from Geoff's Remnant Shop, Brentwood, Essex.

The outer fabric is Rose & Hubble - Cerise & Lilac Rose on Navy.

I am looking forward to making the last project in the Bronze club, which
is going to be a sewing machine mat.

My Time to Craft #405 - 'Anything but a Card'

A new challenge starts today over at My Time to Craft
where the theme this fortnight is 'Anything but a Card'

 Here is my design team project - a quilted box.

I learnt to make one of these on the Beginners Sewing Machine course

 I attended with Claire at Beautiful Things.
The good news is, Claire will soon be running this course online, which is
fabulous news for anyone who is unable to attend the class at her studio.
A tote bag and a zipped cushion cover are the other two projects 

to make on the course.

I made it using half a fat quarter of material, felt and wadding bought

from Geoff's Remnant Shop, Brentwood, Essex.

It is 10" square, so I have enough material left over to make another one.

I can see they're going to be addictive to make in all patterns and sizes,
and would make really nice gifts - just as they are or filled with some nice treats.
