A Tie Top Cushion

Today, I am sharing a Tie Top Cushion, which
is one of the projects available to make on the online sewing course with
Claire at Beautiful Things Craft and Sewing Classes
This is the fifth project I have made since joining the
Bronze Online Course which is a lovely project that I plan to use
when I sit in the garden in the Summer.

If you would like a look at my other Bronze club makes, you will find
them on the following blog posts:-

A zipped doorstop HERE
A lay flat drawstring make-up bag HEREA sewing machine mat HERE
A quilted table placemat HERE

I have one more project to make, then I move up into
the Silver Online Course to make six more projects.
Claire's video tutorials are really easy to follow along with her written instructions.
I bought the fabric last month from Doughty's when I went with a friend to
  their roadshow in Linford, Essex.

A Cushion for my Great Nephew's Nursery

When I started sewing classes, my niece asked me if I could have a go at
making a cushion for Jack's nursery, as and when I felt able to.
He has a jungle themed nursery, so I have been on the look out for some suitable material.

I recently went to the Whitstable Oyster Fair with a friend, and whilst there we came
across a fabric shop. On the pavement outside, there were containers of oddments
of material, and this is where I came across the jungle pieces.

My plan was to make an envelope cushion, which I thought would be an
easy option for a beginner like me. A lesson I have quickly learned - check the
measurements required before buying random off-cuts!
All I knew at that time was that I wanted to make a 16" cushion cover,
hence I bought 2 squares measuring about 18"each. So the only option I had, was to
make a zipped cover, which I did after watching lots of YouTube tutorials
and checking Pinterest.

Here's the finished cushion...
 ...and here's the zip
I'm pleased with how it's turned out, and it just goes to show how many tutorials
are available, if you go searching!
