70th Birthday Card

Today I am sharing the birthday card I made for my sister for her 70th birthday.

I recently made a Christmas card using a set of the Rubber Stamp Tapestry stamps
which you can see HERE, so I decided to make a similar card using the Ginger Hearts set.

I found that by stamping on a faintly drawn pencil circle, it made it easier for me
to create the wreath. I die-cut the numbers in both card and foam, glued them
together to give some dimension.
The products I have used are:-
Rubber Stamp Tapestry Stamps - Ginger Hearts
Cuttlebug Alphabet - Olivia
Pierced square dies - Brand unknown

Challenges entered:
Watercooler Wednesday  - All About Occasions
Crafty Gals Corner - Easter/Spring
Little Red Wagon - Smell the Roses
Sisterhood of Crafters - How does your garden grow?
Paper Funday - Anything Goes - Optional Spring has Sprung
Ike’s World - Springtime/Anything Goes

A new challenge starts today over at  My Time to Craft Christmas where the
theme this fortnight is 'Baubles...but not on a tree’

I started by die-cutting the baubles die in silver mirror card and glued it directly
onto the card base.

Next, I cut each of the baubles in red card and paper pieced them in place.
Using my Scor-Buddy, I scored a few lines in opposite corners to add some detail.
Lastly, I added a silver peel-off sentiment.

My First Crocheted Blanket

After teaching myself to crochet through lockdown and starting with small projects
(pumpkins, infinity scarves and nested baskets, I thought I’d try being a bit
more adventurous and try making a blanket.

Not wanting it to be too difficult, I searched online at various designs, and
decided I should start with making one using just one colour, one stitch
and one border! I thought it best to work up gradually to crocheting in
different stitches and colours.

I have been following Christine from Hope and Chances with her card making
for a few years now, and attended a few of her classes when she owned her
studio in Gravesend.

She is a self taught crocheter, and has made some lovely blankets and cushions
which you can find on her blog and also in her Folksy shop HERE

Seeing a couple Christine has made up in this style, I thought it was a
good one for me to try.

This is just rows and rows of double crochet which took me a few weeks to complete.
For the scalloped/shell border, I followed Bella Coco’s Crochet tutorial which
can be found HERE on YouTube.
I did enjoy making this, so I have now started another, again in just one colour
but this time using a different stitch and border.

I purchased the yarn online from The CheapShop, Tiptree, Essex.
I used seven 100g balls of Stylecraft Special DK in the colour ‘Stone’

Birthday Card for a Horse Lover

I was recently asked by a friend if I could make a card for her
granddaughter who loves horses.
I found this image on the internet which I thought was perfect for her.
I used Word to add  the sentiment below it.
I then mat and layered it onto brown card, attached the die-cut
Die-Namics Corner Concepts greeting and glued it all directly onto the
card base.

Challenges entered:
Dragonfly Dreams - Feature a Creature
The Paper Players - Clean and Simple Birthday
2 Crafty Critter Crazies - Anything Goes
Crafty Animals - Anything Goes
Daisy Chain Challenge - Monochrome
Pearly Sparkle Challenge  - Animal, Birds and/or Insects
