A Bit More Time to Craft Challenge #143 - 'Anything Goes'

A new challenge starts today over at A Bit More Time to Craft Challenge Blog
where the theme is always 'Anything Goes'

Sharing my design team card, using one of the set of It's Happy Fun
digi papers.

I started by printing the digi paper onto white card and then die-cut
it using the largest of the scalloped square dies.

I used 3D foam to mount this square onto a larger square die in
navy card, which I then glued to the base card.

Lastly I die cut the sentiment die in navy card, raised on 3D foam,
and added a white peel-off sentiment to finish.
It's difficult to see in the photos, but I added Glamour dust to
the centre of the flowers to add some sparkle.

Details of the challenge can be found HERE
where 3/5 randomly drawn winners will each get to choose
3 sets of Lozzy's papers.

Masculine Birthday Card

Today’s card is one I made for my friends to give to their son.

I started by making the card base with navy card,. Next I found the
beer image on Google, fussy cut it and used a dark grey Promarker pen
around the cut edge.

I then embossed the panel of white card and mat and layered it onto
silver mirror card. I fussy cut the glass of beer and used 3D foam pads
to give it dimension. The sentiments were computer generated and die-cut
using the stitched dies.

The products I have used are:
Lawn Fawn - Stitched labels
Stitched banner dies - Brand unknown
Challenges entered:
Crafter’s Castle - Anything Goes
Crafty Calendar - Anything Goes
Creative Fingers - Anything Goes

Sirdar - Sweet Blossom Blanket CAL

Back in April, Sirdar in conjunction with Hayfield yarn were advertising a
Crochet Along (CAL) to make the Sweet Blossom Blanket.
Straightaway, I loved the look of it, especially as there were some new stitches
and techniques for me to learn.
I signed up with Sirdar to receive the weekly pattern by email
and also ordered the yarn pack from The Cheap Shop, Tiptree

The designer of the blanket is Sue Rawlinson also known as ‘Sweetpea Family’

The CAL was set out over 5 weeks, although I knew it would take me longer than
that to complete. Both Sue and Sirdar set up Facebook groups which enabled
everyone taking part to ask questions, seek help on a particular problem
they encountered and also share their completed blankets.

Each week's pattern was supported by YouTube videos made by Sue,
showing the details of the pattern for that week and tutorials on the
stitches used.

I am pleased to reveal, that the blanket took me only 8 weeks to complete in the end.
It’s not 100% perfect, but for my first attempt at following a pattern, I am pleased
with out it turned out.

Here is how my blanket looked after each weeks pattern…

Week 1

Week 2

Week 3

Week 4

I even learnt how to 'block' the blanket to straighten up my wonky edges
before adding the border to it.

Week 5

Sue also has a YouTube tutorial HERE to make a pretty blanket tie, which is
a really nice addition if the blanket is being gifted.
I'm keeping this one as it's my first, but I thought I would try making the tie anyway!
She’s also made one with pom poms instead of the hearts.

I've now purchased the pattern and yarn for Sue's Sweet Summer blanket,
so I'm looking forward to starting on that soon.
I have a feeling blanket making may become a little bit addictive!

Birthday Card for my Great Niece

This card is one I made for my great niece for her birthday last month.
She loves playing tennis and is a member of a local tennis club, so
I was more than pleased to find this silhouette image on the internet
that I could use.

The sentiment was generated on my PC, and
matt and layered onto black card, using stitched banner dies.
