Lay Flat Drawstring Make Up Bags for my Great-Nieces

I've been a bit quiet on blogging my sewing projects just recently, as they have
all been Christmas presents which I am now able to show.

When two of my great-niece's saw my drawstring make up bag that I
made HERE, they both asked if I could make them one each sometime,
one in pink and one in lilac/purple. Apologies for the quality of the photos,
the colours of the lilac/purple one look better in real life.

They are aged 10 and 6 and this is what I made for them as part of their
Christmas present. As soon as the presents were all opened, they began filling
their bags with some toiletries and small make up sets they had both received!
I purchased the material from Chelmsford Market.
A friend has also asked if I could make her one, so I have already cut the
material and will make it for her in January and show you next month.

Thank you for visiting my blog today, wishing you all a very Happy New Year.

Merry Christmas

Wishing all my followers and crafting friends,
a very Merry Christmas.

Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog posts throughout the year,
I read every one and really do appreciate them.
I am sharing my last Christmas card for this year, which I kept very 'clean and simple'.
I used a Christmas frame embossing folder and the sentiment die, cut in
silver mirror card and foam. Lastly I added a couple of tiny red star gems.

I must apologise for the poor quality photo.
We unfortunately had a lot of rain last week, so the daylight was very poor.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

40th Birthday Card for my Nephew

My eldest nephew celebrated his 40th birthday on Monday, and like his cousin,
he too is teaching himself to play the guitar. So I made him a different guitar card.

After searching Pinterest for ideas, this is what I came up with.
I drew the shape of the guitar freehand onto a piece of wood effect card,
cut out the framed circle, then attached the gold cord with brads for the strings.
I used 3D foam to attach this to the black base card, then a
dded the sentiment and the number to finish.

The products I have used are:-
Presscut - Happy Birthday
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Circles
Docrafts - Number dies
Challenges entered:-
A Place to Start - Caffeinated Tones

A Dress or Coat Hanger Protector

I had a go at the weekend in making a 'shoulder protector' for my dress, using fabric
from a reduced priced duvet cover I purchased a few months ago. I noticed these are
also called 'Shoulder Dust Covers'

I adapted a pattern I found on Pinterest to fit the shape of  my coat hanger, but as
you can see, I made it far too small. I didn't allow enough seam allowance when
cutting my pattern, but you get the general idea.

These will be so useful to use in my wardrobe, that my next attempt will be made
larger, and using prettier fabric, which I will decorate with ribbon or lace.
This is when scrap material is so useful to use to practice on.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.

Birthday Card for my Nephew

Today, I am sharing the card I made for my youngest nephew this week, who is teaching
himself to play the guitar.
I came across the idea on Pinterest, (there are so many guitar style cards on there) and
thought it would make a change from the usual football themed card.
I extended the piece of card for the bridge base using the word window punch.
I love doing this for longer sentiments too. The pick I cut freehand from red card.

The products I have used are:-
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Circles
Stampin' Up - Word Window Punch
Presscut - Happy Birthday
Craft Essentials Creative Dies - Happy Birthday

Sewing Machine Mat

Today, I am sharing another sewing project, a quilted sewing machine mat which
is one of the projects available to make on the online sewing course with
Claire at Beautiful Things Craft and Sewing Classes
This is the third project I have made since joining the
Bronze Online Sewing Course in July. I have already made a zipped doorstop
which you can find HERE  and a lay flat drawstring make-up bag HERE.
I can't thank Claire enough for getting me started on this wonderful hobby.

I really enjoyed making this machine mat, especially as it involves quilting which I think
gives projects such a lovely look. It will be really handy to use, having the three pockets
at the front to keep my sewing tools in when I am not using them.

I purchased all of the material from The Cheap Shop in Tiptree.
The largest piece of fabric I used is a design by Belleboo.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.
